PF Whitehead Logistics have sold their overnight delivery operation to a long-time partner as they embark on ambitious plans to grow their core business.
The business unit has been acquired by national distribution network Palletline, as PF Whitehead Logistics seek to grow their position as one of the largest and most respected independent logistics providers in South London.
“This is a strategic move to allow us to focus on the areas in which we excel and stand out for the great service we deliver. It’s the first major step in some exciting plans including new relationships and investment in our capabilities, our marketing and our team” says Peter NJ Whitehead, Managing Director.
PF Whitehead Logistics provide warehousing, third-party logistics and transportation for companies across London and the South East from their operations hub in Croydon.
Established in 1963 with a single vehicle, they now have over 500,000 square feet of warehousing and a fleet of over 30 vehicles with which they receive, store and transport goods. Their clients include builders’ merchants Travis Perkins, coffee chain Café Nero and international logistics providers DHL.
Their site in South London is also home to operations for Palletline and UPS, with whom they’ve had long and close working relationships.
“As we provide many of our close partners with their own presence on our site, we’ve become synonymous with being quick, flexible and connected. This enables us to deliver the more agile services which our clients across the capital really value” adds Peter.
PF Whitehead Logistics had been a member of the Palletline distribution network for 10 years. Palletline operates a 96-depot member network and will run the newly acquired overnight delivery operation as Palletline Whitehead Ltd.
Palletline Logistics Managing Director, Paul Elson, said “This is the fifth acquisition of a member business by Palletline. We are looking forward to welcoming our new colleagues into the business and continuing the strong relationship with the customers we will be servicing.”
The sale was completed on 15th March 2021.
“We’re very pleased our colleagues who are moving with the business can look forward to a stable and exciting future. For PF Whitehead Logistics, it provides us with a great opportunity to embrace and shape our future, as we expand to meet rising demand for the dependability and experience we deliver” concludes Peter.
